Hi there! I’m Natalia.
I’m a graphic and UX designer based in the Northern New Jersey, New York area. I design seamless, beautiful experiences using my eclectic skillset. I graduated from Seton Hall University in May 2023 with a B.A. in graphic design and advertising and minors in web design and psychology and have been in love with design ever since.
My Journey
I would never have guessed that my keenness for coloring as a careless child would’ve led to a love for design.
As a kid, drawing energized me; I tried my hand at everything from fashion design to cartooning to mandalas to interior design and tried charcoal, colored pencil, and paint. Eventually, I assumed a more grounded style that honored my interests, where I drew food and landscapes and other things that I love. As I grew, as did my interest in technology, I messed around on my brother’s humble Canon Powershot and discovered how much I value the process of capturing, viewing, and impacting the world in a way that goes further than pen and paper – photography was the bridge for me into the digital world.
I started Seton Hall University as a business major, as in my mind, my hobbies were just my hobbies, and my journey to figure out my career was going to be its own beast. Marketing interested me, but quickly I felt the creative spark I had was knocking at my soul, begging me to let it out. A few existential crises and a (moderately-sized) handful of tears later, everything came together - I reevaluated my options and realized that graphic design and advertising was made for me. It would satiate all sides of me: I could engage my creative eye, technological proficiency, curiosity about the world, and business-oriented mind.
Design, I soon found, goes hand in hand with psychology, another longstanding passion of mine, allowing me to create the highest quality digital experiences using my knowledge of the way people think – this transitioned me perfectly into the UX side of things.
Immediately, I fell in love with design and wondered how I hadn’t found it sooner.
Other things I love
In addition to my creative hobbies, these beautiful things keep me inspired, grounded, and learning.
Books
Whether I’m in the mood for something spiritual, philosophical, or a fun fiction, reading is fuel to me. I love finishing a book with fresh perspectives to ponder and a newfound understanding of the human experience. Recently, I am utterly entranced by psychological thrillers. Seeing inside the mind of an often unreliable narrator is intriguing and enlightening in many ways.
Cinematography
Filming and editing videos brings me so much joy. I love documenting my trips as a way of remembering them but also expressing myself; it helps me practice evoking feeling by manipulating camera movement, music, and flow. I also love admiring artful cinematography in movies.
Language
I’ve always been drawn to the art of language; it is a personal project of mine. I love that it challenges me to think differently and exercises my patience. I picked up Spanish in school and strengthen my skills daily using my beloved Duolingo :) the Arabic, French, and Chinese languages are others I look forward to studying more deeply.
Food
Food excites me. I’m always on the hunt for new places and cuisines to immerse myself in, learn about, and enjoy with the people I love. As I grow, I’m experimenting in the kitchen more often – it’s an art I’ll be exploring for my entire life.
Nature
With sunshine in my eyes and the sound of rippling water, I’m immediately calm. I spend a lot of time outside, whether I’m reading at my local park, paddleboarding on the lake, or enjoying a walk. The sights and sounds of the earth ground me and nourish my creativity.
